The research group Theoretical Computer Science is active in the field of database theory. The context of databases is interpreted here very broadly, and is not restricted to standard relationale database management systems. The general theme is the design and analysis of logical data models and associated query langauges. This theme is applied to various kinds of systems, such as relational, object-oriented, geometrical, temporal, Web databases, data mining, etc. Inspired by the general theme, the group is also active in related fields of theoretical computer science, such as constraint satisfaction problems, mathematical logic, complexity theory, and algorithms.
